Enjoyed a great night out last night with the great and the good at the MK Chamber’s ’2011 Business Excellence Awards’ which celebrated some of the very best local business talent in the area. Some worthy winners, entertaining speeches and a great venue at the MK Stadium’s Doubletree Hilton. MK Chamber should be proud …it was a slick, professional affair.
Tablets have Higher Click-Through Rates
Interestingly new research suggests that click-through rates for paid-search ads are 37% higher on tablet devices than on PCs or smartphones, while the average cost-per-click (CPC) for advertisers is 29% lower than on the other two devices. This is according to Marin Software’s Paid Search Quarterly Benchmarking Report*. I wonder if this has anything to do with context of how tablets are still mostly used i.e. more for leisure browsing rather than as the main ‘work vehicle’. Also I suspect the fact they are so portable and good for ‘killing’ time while travelling or waiting also contributes to this significantly higher click through. It will be interesting to see if when business usage of tablets increases whether the difference in these click through rates decreases.
The report also reveals that 93% of adspend goes to PCs, while smartphones receive 5%, and tablets just 2%. I’d say good on yer to those 2% early adopters who are enjoying the higher click through (it’s nice to be a big fish in a small pond).
